Daily Coping Solutions for COVID-19 #5

Today‘s focus is on reaping and deepening what you sow, which heightens the importance of affirming ourselves as beautiful, loving beings. Researchers have long marveled at the almost-magical power of self-affirmation. Affirmations are positive statements that reinforce positive thoughts and attitudes. They’re usually said in the present tense first person (e.g. I, me, myself, etc.) and they’re often most effective if you can say them in front of a mirror or multiple times thought out the day. Positive affirmations really do work and they can do wonders for getting us motivated and focusing our thoughts on the positive — they’re a vital factor in “the law of attraction,” in which we shape our thoughts and mind-set to attract good things to our life.

Affirmation takes advantage of our reward circuits, which can be quite powerful. Many studies have shown that these circuits can do things like dampen pain and help us maintain balance in the face of threats. Today let’s come together and share positive affirmations with ourselves and others. I would invite you to post positive affirmations here and throughout your home. Here are a few of my favorite:

  1. “My life is an adventure and every day, I discover new and interesting paths to pursue.”
  2. “Today, I abandon all of my old, negative habits and will passionately take up new, more positive ones in their place.”
  3. “I am courageous. I am confident. I am worthy of being loved and accepted. I like who I am!”
  4. “Today I will be kind and compassionate. I will look for ways to show love to others.”
  5. “I will listen to my soul and take care of my soul needs”
  6. “What we don’t need in the midst of struggle is shame for being human.” Brené Brown
