Daily Coping Solutions for COVID-19 #26

The Pursuit of Happpiness

Day 26 is really important. Understanding that happiness is a way of thinking, the perspective, that it within the moment to be experienced is something we really need to remember.

Loving the life you have is not an event, it’s a process. I have found myself several times through my life looking towards the next thing that will bring relief or happiness.  This is a term that is called, “Destination Addiction.”  This term is speaks towards happiness is somewhere in the future or can be found somewhere else rather than in the present. I’d often think to myself. If I could hit this milestone or when COVID-19 is over then I will be happy.  Sometimes our destination addiction is due to the tough time we are going through in the present, which is completely understandable.

Anticipation is a good feeling to help us endure the harshness of the difficulty. However, while having hope for a better tomorrow is beneficial to our overall mood, it is equally beneficial to be able to reflect on the positive in the present. Too many of us are waiting for something to change our lives so that we can finally say we’re truly happy.  You might think if I only had different circumstances, then I’d be happy and have a life truly worth living. Happiness isn’t something that happens based on how others are living or what people are doing around us.

Happiness starts from within and living in the present. Being at peace with your life begins with focusing on contentment with our current  circumstances. Today let’s create a ‘right here, right now’ list. Right here and right now is a way to develop gratitude for the present.

Right Here Right Now

1.     What are the things bringing you joy right here and now?

2.     What lessons have you learned right here and now?

3.     What is it you love about yourself right here and now?

4.     What strides are you take to meet your goals today?

The main purpose is to help you stop and really observe what is happening in day to day life and the role of today in your story. Today pay more attention to what is happening right here and now.
